She then finished her training and fellowship in cornea/external disease, cataract and refractive surgery at the University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
Dr. Al-Mohtaseb is a key opinion leader in ophthalmology and an adopter of new surgical techniques and ophthalmic technologies. She has authored multiple scientific publications and presents numerous lectures nationally and internationally. She has a clinical Associate Professor appointment at Baylor College of Medicine and was the previous Associate Program Director of Residency. Dr. Joshua A. Atkinson graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology and a Certification in Computer Programming.
Dr. Joshua A. Atkinson graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology and a Certification in Computer Programming. He then attended McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston where he received his Doctor of Medicine in the Neuroscience Scholarly Program. Dr. Atkinson completed his ophthalmology residency program at West Virginia University Eye Institute as the Chief Resident.
During his time at The University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Atkinson was chosen to lead several research studies and was also awarded the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke Research Grant for his research. Dr. Atkinson has presented his research at various national ophthalmology conferences and has published numerous articles in medical journals. Dr. Atkinson is a member of the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, the Harris County Medical Society, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
In his spare time, Dr. Atkinson enjoys cooking, brewing, and snow skiing. He also plays the guitar, piano, and trumpet.
